Changing up the format…
You may or may not have noticed that this newsletter hasn’t exactly been weekly over the past bit of time. To be honest, I’ve had too many things going on at once to keep it weekly which has me questioning if that format is right for this. It’s an interesting discussion in the “newsletter world” that has been going through my head lately.
Conventional wisdom says that you need to keep up a regular output of weekly or (God forbid) daily emails to get people in the habit of reading.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve signed up for newsletters that send daily emails and after about a week, I just stop reading them.
It’s too much.
It’s also too much for the creator of them to actually create, apparently, because they end up rehashing the same stuff over and over again.
I’m not going to do that.
This newsletter has always been an experiment and a way for me to get my creative endeavors out there. It doesn’t make me any money so when I do have paying work to do, this will always take a back seat (unless a bunch of you sign up for the paid subscription).
So in the interest of experimentation, I’m going to change things up a bit. This email will change to a monthly format, that will be one bigger email collecting artwork that I create over the month. There will still be Change Log comics as I get new ones done, but I’ll also mix in some other ideas that I have and mini-articles around visual storytelling.
I’m still working out some of the details of what I want to do here and working on some other projects so I’ll be taking a break from sending emails here until the new year.
Thanks for your support thus far and I hope you’ll stick around for the new and improved version of the Ancient Astronaut Cartoons newsletter.
In the meantime, here’s a drawing of a gnome drinking coffee with a bird on his head…
Have a great week!
-Brad
Monthly sounds reasonable ☺️
