No new Change Log comic today. Instead I wanted to give a big update on the other comic I’m working on…
The Atlantean
I don’t just make comic strips. I’ve worked on several long-form comics over the years, most recently my anthropomorphic pirate comic called Near the Wind (which is available to buy right now in my store). The past few months I’ve been working on a new book called The Atlantean and I’m excited to give some more details about it. Here’s the pitch:
Atlantis didn't sink beneath the waves. After thousands of years of a near utopian civilization they eventually lost their way which resulted in a long and bitter civil war. Then they just… left. To atone for the evils they had inflicted on the humans of earth, a group of Atlanteans stayed behind to help guide the young civilizations from the shadows. Thousands of years later, only one member of the group remained. Feeling like a failure, Soleres decided it was time to finally leave Earth behind and try to rejoin his people… wherever they were. After hundreds of years searching the galaxies to no avail, Soleres has settled into a depressing life, earning a living as a bodyguard to warlords and would-be planetary rulers. But the trail is about to grow warm again when an ancient artifact crosses his path with clues to the mysterious origins, and possibly the current location, of Atlantis.
The Atlantean is a sci-fi action story that follows Soleres as he tries to figure out where Atlantis went amidst the backdrop of a galactic civil war. If you’re subscribed to this email, you should have received a link to an 11 page preview comic but I also wanted to show a bit more preview art as I work through setting up the world. So far, character designs are done (or mostly done) and the script is written. I’ll be starting on the artwork soon.
